A rare occasion to enter into the path of Meditation Kyudo, contemplative archery.
This introductory program is suited for students from age 13 on. Beginners will spend both days learning the complex formal movements, and may release an arrow at the end of the weekend, or the following class.
This is a chance to begin a lifelong journey with the practice.
Current Kyudokas with active membership are welcome to attend the whole weekend at no extra cost.
For this weekend, we are particularly inviting previous Kyudo Practitioners to reconnect with this profound practice in this time of conflict. People who have practiced Kyudo before will experience the expedited re-entry version.
Shibata Sendai XX often said that “Kyudo and Ashe practice are the same.”

It’s a wonderful opportunity:
Shibata Sensei XXI will visit this year from Japan - this is an excellent time to start practicing, or to re-connect. This program will likely be the last opportunity to do so before his arrival in the Fall.
The program cost is $90, which includes instruction, as well as practice equipment, supplies, Kyudo booklet, and tea & snacks. Partial scholarships are available - don’t hesitate to reach out.
The Intensive takes place at the Halifax Shambhala Centre at 1084 Tower Road.
No special clothing is required. Just comfortable clothing is fine, but big belt buckles and sleeves which are too loose are best avoided as they can get in the way. Please note: footwear will be removed in the practice hall, and there are no open containers or single-use plastic bottles allowed, so please bring a reusable water bottle or cup with lid.
Experienced students will have a chance to deepen their practice during this extended practice opportunity.
This Intensive will run Saturday 10am-5pm, and Sunday from noon to 7pm.
For this Intensive, please arrive at 9:30am for registration and set-up. Partial attendance is not permitted, except for current Kyudokas.
Regular classes take place every second Sunday from 5pm to 7pm, with 4:30pm arrival for set-up.
